This treatment should not be confused with static compression treatment, such as wearing compression stockings.
How the Bio Compression System Works
The system works by applying uniform, pulsing pressure which mimics our natural circulatory systems, delivered through an inflatable garment. Compression helps circulate fluids when the body is not able to circulate them sufficiently. In the case of lymphedema, lymph is not circulated sufficiently. In the case of venous deficiency, the veins (blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart) are not adequate for the task. In the case of arterial deficiency, the arteries (blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart) are not functioning sufficiently. For all these situations, the Bio Compression pump pressurizes the accompanying garment, which delivers gentle compression and pulsing massage in order to simulate the natural circulatory system of these fluids.
