BioCompression Systems Guide

We’re proud to be a designated dealer for Bio Compression Systems, Inc., a New Jersey-based manufacturer of a top-quality line of pneumatic compression therapy equipment. Here’s some information on their products and how they can treat a range of medical complaints. As always, we welcome your questions at PM Medical Products in Wilkes-Barre, where we also serve our neighbors in Scranton and Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Bio Compression Systems, Inc., makes excellent pneumatic sequential therapy equipment, along with the necessary garments to use the system. Pneumatic compression therapy is a useful treatment for people with arterial or venous insufficiency, with non-healing wounds, and with lymphedema and edema. It’s also helpful to prevent swelling following an acute injury, so it is used in sports therapy and post-surgery. This treatment should not be confused with static compression treatment, such as wearing compression stockings.

How the Bio Compression System Works

The system works by applying uniform, pulsing pressure which mimics our natural circulatory systems, delivered through an inflatable garment. Having the right size and style of garment is critical to delivering the therapy to the various anatomical areas where treatment is required. This is one place where Bio Compression Systems, Inc. really shines.

The company has over 50 off-the-shelf standard garments to meet your needs, whether compression therapy is required for upper extremity, lower extremity, abdominal or truncal patients. If they don’t have what you need, they can design and produce custom garments for patients with unique measurements and characteristics. The company manufactures all garments and devices in its Moonachie, New Jersey, factory, which enables a speedy turnaround of custom garment orders. They ship on a weekly basis.

Compression helps circulate fluids when the body is not able to circulate them sufficiently. In the case of lymphedema, lymph is not circulated sufficiently. In the case of venous deficiency, the veins (blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart) are not adequate for the task. In the case of arterial deficiency, the arteries (blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart) are not functioning sufficiently. For all these situations, the Bio Compression pump pressurizes the accompanying garment, which delivers gentle compression and pulsing massage in order to simulate the natural circulatory system of these fluids.
